The relation between the class condition of nation-state and self-identity has two aspects:firstly

under the frame of the nation-state

the state and the individual are constructed mutually

which is based on the class politics.Secondly

in modern western society

middle class makes self-identity as one social foundation.In social gender aspect

the feminist movement and the sexual liberation movement are directly related to the individual’s self-identity

which both attempt to liberate individual from the power relation of private realm

and to make individual get much more freedom、self-identity and self-assurance in private realm.However

in the nation-state composed of diverse ethnic groups

the relation between the ethnic group condition and self-identity is also closely linked with the nation-state.The ethnic groups’ relation problems of a multi-ethnic society are likely to be resloved by the way of assimilating or multiculturalism.
