Whether modern Intellectuals are selfish or still public is a heated problem which leads to the confusion in theory and puzzle in practice on the topic of the social role of intellectuals.The article summarizes various kinds of arguments of the contradictions of this with the belief that the contradiction between the selfish and public roles of the intellectuals can be resolved by the theory of Bourdieu’s "Fields".Though they mainly work in the academic field

pursuing the interests within

this will not prevent them from jumping into public sphere belonging to the field of politics and pursuing the political and symbolic interests of it in their real life

thus leading to the unification of the muliti-roles in different fields that they play based on selfishness and making them go into the public sphere from selfishness to publicity.
