Zeng Gong had deep concern for developing culture and education and made great contribution to the construction and promotion of Jinan’s culture. His historical and geographical source-tracing of Jinan’s spring in his famous essay “Notes Taken in Er Tang of Qizhou” especially shows both his outstanding and profound learning and his penetrating views.
