From Tashi to engraving, the most important factor is the change of copy idea. The paper analyses the data of Tang Dynasty and comes to two conclusions. First, there had been Tashi in Jin Dynasty. Secondly, Tashi was popularized on the occasion of Sui and Tang. The new copy idea which is called Keta（to cave the stone for rubbing）existed at that time because of calligraphy and Buddhism. The cohabitation in a clan didn’t have a universal sense because at the time the property of a clan was rarely shared. The royal order in the first year of emperor HanHui says, “officials having six hundred Dan who live with their parents will be awarded …… others won’t.” Undoubtedly, it had an essence of encouraging cohabitation. In the paper, the author thinks the word “Tongju” was used as a verb with the meaning of “live with”. Most scholars after Ming and Qing Dynasties looked on it as a word of abuse. Otherwise, those in Song Dynasty looked on it as “being alone without a protector”.
