After Sima Yi's death

Sima Shi came into power. He actively appointed and promoted talents. So officials originally serving the Cao regime turned to his side while new talents did the same

laying the foundation for the Sima group to transform into the Western Jin Dynasty in the future. In the early days of Sima Shi's administration

his foundation was still unstable and his prestige was far inferior to that of his father. However

he was "wise and resolute". After the Dongguan fiasco

Sima Shi appeased the generals and took the blame for himself

thus quickly stabilizing the situation. Then he defeated Zhuge Ke the Taifu of Wu

got rid of dissidents like Li Feng

Zhang Ji and other forces supporting the Cao regime

replaced Cao Fang with Cao Mao as the king of Wei

and quickly settled the chaos in Huainan led by Wu Qiujian

thus further consolidating the power of his group. In the historical succession of the Wei and Jin Dynasties

Sima Shi played a key role for connection between the two.
