Along with the advancement of industrialization and urbanization process
the inflow of goods
capitals and foreign immigrants has become a common phenomenon in many international cities. And during the process of becoming the "global city"
the local residents’ cognition of globalization and their attitudes towards foreign immigrants become the important factors influencing their globalization process so that they are the key issues unable to be neglected in the study of international immigration. This study
based on the East Asian Social Survey (2008 EASS) data and summary of foreign immigrants compositions in Shanghai
Seoul and Tokyo
describes the local residents’ specific attitudes towards globalization and analyzes the related factors influencing their attitude. The study finds that there are many similarities and differences in the residents’ cognition of globalization in the three cities. Residents’ education level
income level and other social and economic characteristics will directly affect their corresponding attitudes towards foreign immigrants.
