Principle Instructions on Work among Yao and Miao Ethnic Minorities

in its sixth issue in 1934. The instructions should have been jointly issued by the CPC Central Committee and the General Political Department of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. The instructions were given and Yao and Miao ethnic minorities were particularly highlighted because the CPC Central Committee and the General Political Department of the Red Army thought that there was not only the need to win the support from ethnic minorities in Northeast Guangxi

mainly the Yao and the Miao people

so that the Red Army could successfully pass through the region

but also the need to win the support of ethnic minorities in Hunan

Hubei

Sichuan and Guizhou

mainly the Miao people

to create a new Soviet area there. The instructions should have been published in Red Star between November 29

th

and early December

1934.
