Capital and Segmentation: A Study of the Trend of Stratification of Chinese Leisure Lifestyle
this paper makes an empirical analysis of the stratification of Chinese residents' leisure lifestyle
and based on Bourdieu’s theory of capital
investigates the influence of individual cultural capital and economic capital on individual leisure lifestyle. The results show that: first
the individual's economic capital and cultural capital significantly affect the individual's leisure lifestyle. The more economic capital and cultural capital an individual owns
the greater the total quantity of leisure activities the individual gets. Second
the current leisure lifestyle of Chinese residents shows a trend of stratification in terms of age
household registration
occupation
income level and education level
which reflects the unequal distribution of leisure resources in the whole society. Therefore
policy measures should be taken to reduce leisure inequality and improve people's sense of acquisition and happiness in their leisure life.
