"City People Going to the Countryside" and Its Narrative in China’s Contemporary Novels封面论文
"City people going to the countryside" is a concept corresponding to "country people going to the city" . It refers to city people going to the countryside voluntarily or involuntarily at specific historical stages
leading or participating in rural labor and construction with a new identity. The issue of people going to the city and the countryside has always been linked with the development of modern civilization and culture in China. In the cultural context of different historical stages
the historical
social
realistic and cultural significance carried by characters in novels may be different
but they all constitute an important force for social development. "City people going to the countryside" is often closely associated with major contemporary historical changes in China
such as the agricultural cooperative movement
the educated youths going to the countryside movement
and the change of urban-rural relationship and the construction of new countryside since the new century. Contemporary literary creation has actively responded in these important historical latitudes
resulting in realistic literary works with a strong mark on the times
which constitute a literary phenomenon worthy of attention and research in China’s contemporary literature.
