Four Models of Top U.S. University Continuing Education and Insights: Take Harvard University and Stanford University as Examples
As an educational activity open to all members of society after school education
continuing education is an important part of China's lifelong education system. First-class universities in the United States adopt diversified modes and precise orientations in continuing education
and have set up four models for different groups: extension school
summer school
professional development and institute for learning in retirement. By analyzing their goals
curricular
specific cases
and academic planning
it is suggested that the continuing education of Chinese universities can draw on their experience
meet the demands of different groups
enhance services with market orientation
and attach importance to retirement colleges to realize active aging.
