Solid Foundation and Filial Piety: Ji Tian Subject in Tang and Song Dynasties’Fu
The ritual of farming is a kind of court political ritual that the ancient emperors cultivated farmland before spring ploughing in order to pray for a good harvest of grain
worship the ancestral temples
persuade the peasants to stick to their duty and worship the heaven to show filial piety. Most of the Fu Writers in the Tang and Song dynasties inherited Pan Yue’s Ji Tian Fu. Under the influence of the imperial examination system which advocated the dignity and authority of the emperor
this kind of Fu can carry forward the feudal cultural significance of the emperor’s "solid foundation" and "filial piety" . In Tang Dynasty
Li Meng
nameless and Shi Guan’s Ji Tian Fu
nameless Qian Mu Wang Xing Fu and Wang Bi Tillage and Rongtian Fu used concise artistic techniques to describe the emperor’s display of splendor and the process of tillage
while in Song Dynasty
Wang Yucheng’s Ji Tian Fu
Li Bi's Ji Tian Qi She Ji Fu and Yang Jie’s Ji Tian Ju Shao Yang Zhi Di Fu
they used fresh prose writing methods to elaborate on the ritual and orientation of tillage. These pluralistic forms and styles are indeed of epochal significance for inheritance and innovation. Although there are differences in content and system between Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty
most of them have the cultural connotations of praising the emperor’s "persuading agriculture to grow
solid foundation" and "sacrificing ancestors to express filial piety" . Therefore
this paper intends to interpret eight pieces of Ji Tian Fu in Tang and Song dynasties
and explain the background of the creation of Ji Tian Fu ritual system
to illustrate the background of the creation of Ji Tian Fu ritual system in Tang and Song dynasties
emphasizing that there is a cultural tradition of "solid foundation" and "filial piety" . From the praise of the emperor’s cultivation etiquette
the author interprets the rich and diverse aesthetic style
and then affirms the era and literature value of the cultivation of the Ji Tian Fu.
