More Discussion on Indigenization of Sociology as Academic Activity
This thesis divides the history of China’s sociology into four periods: the introduction and translation periods from 1895 to 1920
early development period from 1921 to 1952
renaissance period from 1979 to 1998 and conventionalization period from 1999 to 2018. Besides
the thesis also analyzes the origin and characteristic of indigenization of sociology in different periods. The conclusion is that participation of external academic factors
internal change of academic structure characteristic and restriction or promotion of other support systems are three core elements which constitute sociology knowledge framework to understand the popularity and manifestation of sociology indigenization issues. This thesis also illustrates typical opinions in controversy of modern sociology indigenization
internalization or globalization. We think that in the development of China’s sociology
the controversy about indigenization
internalization or globalization is not relevant when it comes to ontology. It is just scholars’ preference based on their own academic attainments. Therefore
taking absorbing anything and everything as principle of research subjects or research methods may reconcile controversy and promote research of China’s sociology to realize new academic achievements.
