Comparison of Entertainment in the Han Dynasty and Ancient Rome: Differences of Civilization Genes in the Han Dynasty and Ancient Rome封面论文
There are abundant entertainment activities in the social life of the Han Dynasty and ancient Rome. The entertainment activities of the Han Dynasty mostly came from the people
while those of ancient Rome were mostly provided by the rulers and nobles. There were quite many competitive activities in the Han Dynasty and ancient Rome
but their content and purpose were quite different. Competitive activities in Rome were the most important and popular in social entertainment activities
with their theme being physical confrontation represented by wrestling. Such confrontation was both performance and non-performance
with bloody killing as its essence. Competitive activities including physical confrontation in the Han Dynasty were only a part of social entertainment activities
which were performance only. Most competitive activities were non-physical. The difference in social entertainment between the Han Dynasty and ancient Rome is determined by their different development paths and inheritance of civilization genes. The Roman civilization and Han civilization were both rooted in farming civilization. But Rome embarked on the road of colonial empire through war and plunder
which became a parasitic urban civilization with its citizens as the main body. The Han Dynasty
however
created a typical farming civilization on the basis of unification with the whole society as its main body
which was a civilization of peace rather than war
an endogenous civilization rather than colonial civilization
and a civilization of self-sufficiency rather than plunder
which is also an important genetic component of the traditional Chinese civilization.
